Winter 2023: Illustration commission for an event
From textile illustration to live portraiture: the evolution of my artistic career
This winter, I worked on an illustration commission.
Five years ago, this was part of my daily routine. I was a textile designer illustrator, creating patterns and illustrations for linens and tableware.
In 2018, I wanted to give a new impetus to my career (after twenty years in this industry) and decided to put my drawing skills at the service of events.
I needed human contact, I appreciated the world of fashion, living part of the year in Miami, feeling the need for more dynamism and lightness.
Since then, I have devoted myself exclusively to drawing live portraits for luxury brands and events. I’ve never regretted this choice, I love my job.
An artistic challenge: to create a series of illustrations for a love story set in Russia, Geneva and Switzerland.
However, last November I received an e-mail for an illustration order.
The task was to draw a dozen scenes telling a love story set in Russia, Geneva and Switzerland.
There were thirteen scenes to draw.
Some of the illustrations included portraits, but I still had to go back to my pencils and sketchbooks. I had to draw backgrounds, vegetation and landscapes, think about the impact of light and shadow, and rework certain perspectives.
My know-how for your events
This know-how in pure illustration can be applied to the constraints of event management.
Imagine being a foreign brand organizing an event in Paris:
- Why not depict a scene of Paris by night? The Eiffel Tower is bound to make your guests dream; let’s highlight all the advantages of holding your event in an emblematic location by adding a designed background.
- The Côte d’Azur evokes elegance and glamour. I can draw art deco villas and exotic vegetation against a Mediterranean backdrop.
- New York and its skyline are inevitably symbolic of the city’s strength. I’d be delighted to design them specifically for your event.
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to think about the spring flowers that will also accompany your PE24 collections.
